Known as RCB’s designated finisher over the past two years, Karthik has delivered exceptional performances, playing crucial cameos in the lower order. Acquired for INR 5.5 crore in the IPL 2022 auction, he justified his selection by amassing 330 runs in 16 matches at an impressive average of 55, with a striking strike rate of 183, significantly contributing to RCB’s journey to the playoffs.

However, IPL 2023 proved challenging for Karthik, as he managed only 140 runs at an average of 11. Unfortunately, his subpar performance couldn’t lift RCB, leading to their elimination from the playoffs and a sixth-place finish in the points table.

Karthik’s stellar form in IPL 2022 earned him a spot in India’s squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia, where he played as a finisher but scored only 14 runs in three innings.

Dinesh Karthik holds a unique distinction as one of the few players to participate in every IPL season since its inception in 2008, joining the ranks of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Manish Pandey, and Wriddhiman Saha. Throughout his IPL journey, Karthik has represented six different teams: Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Lions, Kings XI Punjab, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. As a wicketkeeper, he stands second on the list with the most dismissals (133).

Beyond his cricketing career, Dinesh Karthik has ventured into commentary and punditry, contributing to various T20 leagues in England and international series.
