England fast bowler Jofra Archer is participating in a pre-season camp for his county team in Bengaluru along with his county team Sussex. He is training hard to be fit to play for England in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

His presence in Bengaluru is linked to the prospect of him playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. He was not sold in the auction and will not play for RCB in the upcoming edition of IPL.

His reason for coming to Bengaluru was to participate in a week-long camp with his county team to practice in favorable weather conditions. The England fast bowler is currently sidelined due to a long-standing elbow injury.

Jofra Archer played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2023

The same injury prevented him from participating in the IPL 2022 for Mumbai Indians. He played for MI in IPL 2023 but played only five matches and took only two wickets.

According to media reports, besides Sussex, Lancashire men’s and women’s teams are also practicing in Bangalore. They set up their base camp at the KSCA Alur facility on Tuesday. Both the men’s and women’s teams will play practice matches against selected teams from Karnataka during their 10-day stay.

Talking about Archer, he had an elbow surgery last year which kept him out of the game. He is still recovering from an elbow injury after surgery. The ECB has been keeping an eye on him as he works hard to get fit ahead of the T20 World Cup in June.

“The ECB believe that Archer’s return would be easier if he was in their care in the UK in April and May, rather than them wanting to get their money’s worth from him with an IPL team in India,” it said. Cricinfo report.

Archer did not play in the Test series against India either. England missed a lot of fast bowlers as players like Mark Wood and James Anderson had to bowl a lot in the hot and humid conditions in India. Talking about Archer’s career so far, the England fast bowler has played 13 Test matches and 21 ODIs and has taken 42 wickets across the two formats. He has taken 18 wickets in 15 T20 matches played so far. He took 48 wickets in 40 IPL matches.

He played his last international match in March 2023 and was sidelined since May 2023. Archer recently returned to competitive cricket earlier this month, appearing in a second division county championship match.
