‘This series is a good opportunity for us to test our bench strength’: Ahmed Shah Sulaimankhil
Afghanistan Chief Selector Ahmed Shah Sulaimankhil believes that this is a good opportunity to test the strength of their bench. “We have a close eye on the upcoming T20 World Cup for which we want to create a very good mix of junior and senior players.
“This series, along with the three T20 matches against Ireland in March, is a good opportunity for us to test our bench strength and finalize a good squad for the mega event,” he said.
Before the tour to Sri Lanka, Mujeeb played for the Gulf giants in the ILT20 where he was a disappointment. He took just 3 wickets in 5 matches at an average of 42.33.
Mujeeb played two T20 matches against India in January where he took 2 wickets.
Afghanistan’s current tour of Sri Lanka has been disappointing. Having lost the only Test, they have already lost two T20 matches with one more T20 match to go.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 auction at his base price of Rs. Added to 2 crores. KKR’s number is with Mujeeb. They have mysterious spinners like Sunil Narine and Varun Chakraborty in their team.
