He recently led MI Emirates in ILT20 2024.
In a recent development, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) franchise has appointed a Caribbean star as captain KL Rahul’s deputy for the upcoming IPL 2024 season. He now replaces all-rounder Krunal Pandya as the team’s vice-captain in the franchise.
LSG, who have qualified for the playoffs in each of their last appearances since their debut in IPL 2022, revealed that West Indies star Nicholas Pooran will share the leadership duties with the star India batsman.
After KL Rahul exited midway through the IPL 2023 season due to injury, Krunal led the team. However, should such a situation arise again, LSG will turn to Pooran, who has leadership experience in international and franchise cricket.

The franchise took to social media to confirm the news. A photo of the duo was captioned, “KL Rahul (C) Nicholas Pooran (VC) This season is already looking special.”
LSG confident of leadership experience for maiden IPL trophy
Rahul handed over jersey number 29 to Pooran in an official ceremony. Pooran has leadership experience and recently captained MI Emirates in the International League T20 (ILT20) 2024.

Along with his big hitting abilities, his promotion in the leadership department means that despite playing some consistent cricket at the league stage, it remains to be seen whether there has been a change in LSG’s fortunes, yet to be seen in an IPL final.
With Rahul also confirmed to be available for the entire season, barring any unforeseen circumstances, LSG will rely on their new leadership to claim their first IPL trophy. LSG will open their campaign against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on March 24 at the Sawai Mansingh Indoor Stadium in Jaipur.
