Star pacer Mohammed Shami will be absent from the IPL next month due to a left ankle injury, requiring surgery in the UK, as relayed by a BCCI source to news wire PTI on Thursday (February 22).
This setback poses a considerable challenge for his IPL franchise, Gujarat Titans, who are already dealing with the absence of another key player, Hardik Pandya, now with Mumbai Indians. The decision on whether to name a replacement for Shami remains uncertain.

Shami underwent special ankle injections in London at the close of January.However, the injections proved ineffective, and surgery is now considered the only viable option. Shami is expected to depart for the UK shortly for the surgical procedure, making his IPL participation unlikely.
